We may not say it often enough, but when we do, we couldn't mean it more. Those of you who support us with your annual memberships and gifts to Portland Opera enable us to sustain opera and musical theater in this great city. Often we are asked if an annual $50 gift or $100 membership "helps." The answer is a resounding "yes." What is important to know is when we mount a production of Carmen or a new production of Otello, your ticket price covers less than 50% of what it costs us to do the show. We count on opera (and Broadway) memberships and gifts, corporate sponsorships, corporate matching gifts, estate gifts and in-kind gifts to make up the rest. Even buying a compact disc, opera scarf or an "Evenings of Passion, No Regrets in the Morning" bumper sticker helps us. Attending our Masquerade gala helps. Every little bit helps.
